Vehicle Detail

The 2011 Lexus HS is an attempt to bring gas sipping hybrid technology to a mid-size car when can appeal to the luxury market. Trying to combine two completely different products and make a go of it is always difficult. Flying car and amphibious car attempts usually made for vehicles that were simultaneously poor cars, airplanes, and/or boats, and there is cause to wonder if the luxury car/hybrid is a marriage that can ever be made to work in reality.

In its road test, the 2011 Lexus HS 250h was praised for its fast acceleration; it accelerates from zero to sixty in only 8.4 seconds. On the road, the Lexus HS is also quiet. With easy to handle electric power steering, drivers can easily handle curves. The Lexus HS absorbs bumps and holes for a smooth ride through town or across backstreets. However, after the test drive, critics said the Lexus HS had touchy brakes. Its touchy brakes would come in handy, though, when you need to slow this powerful vehicle.

The Lexus HS 250h boasts an in-line 4 cylinder on an Atkinson cycle. The Atkinson cycle improves the efficiency of the engine. The engine also has Variable Valve Timing with intelligence which further improves the performance of the engine. With a horsepower of 187, the Lexus HS 250h accelerates quickly but still qualifies as a ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV).
